Flash gold on ABS

2006

hallo,
I am working on electroplating on plastics nickel/cr and I want to add flash gold .
1.what the process for this coat
2.how to protect this a thin layer(.05 micron)
3.what composition of tank of gold (if electroplate ,or electroless)
note:I want colour only by gold or by any processes without use heat on this processes (the base metal ABS).
thanks for help me,

Nabil Salama Zaki Meakeal

You simply gold plate instead of chrome plate, after completing the same pretreatment and nickel plating process. But .05 micron is so thin that you need to lacquer anyway so I might ask "why bother gold plating?", and suggest that you electrophoretically lacquer the nickel instead.

Thanks Mr Ted
I know electrophoretic lacquer but I know it need heat to curing above 120 °C. that's temp. effect on plastic (ABS).so if you know any co. make this system on plastic. PLEASE inform me about this system with remember the base metal is abs.
thank you .

You may be right, Nabil, but you may not. Please talk to a supplier of electrophoretic lacquer systems and you may find that very high temperature curing is not required. If it is required, then I thank you for telling me something I didn't know.
