Blackening zinc plate

-----

Q. I have some zinc plated items I would like to blacken. Anyone have any suggestions?

A. Try 200 gm iron(III)chloride/1 lit water solution,
or 1 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons copper sulphate, 1 dl water solution.
Good luck!

Q. Goran, can iron chloride be used to blacken zincated aluminum? Also, is the black coating an iron deposit on zinc? Best regards,
