Sodium chloride eats up molds

I am compression molding polymers with organics and sodium chloride. The sodium chloride is then leached out in order to get the porosity that is need for the end product. The sodium chloride eats up the molds. The temp for the process 800 °F. Finally it all needs to be non toxic, for this is for implants.

Chlorides are among the most corrosive ions and elevated temperature increases their activity. Protect your molds with a suitable plating such as electroless nickel, preferably high phos. Chrome is not a good option here for it will dissolve and pitt rapidly.
