Plating and RoHS compliance
I am looking into the plating finishes compliance with the European Unions RoHS standard. I understand that Hexavalent Chromium is used in some of the zinc plating processes, and I was looking for some information on alternate methods, and if this is a concern with electroless nickel plating. I appreciate any help that you are able to offer.

Yes. Both are a concern. Chromate conversion coatings on zinc plated products have conventionally been based on hexavalent chromate. Electroless nickel processes have conventionally employed additions of cadmium and lead. Trivalent chromates and lead-free/cadmium-free electroless nickel are now available but you must specify RoHS-compliant plating and post-treatment processing.
