Mixing Practice and Induction Time for 2-part Paints
2006
Q. Most of painting instructions specify as following:
1. The catalyst shall be always added to base component and "NEVER THE OPPOSITE".
2. "ALLOW 15 MINUTES STAND TIME" minimum after mixing before application of paint.
I want to know what happens if above items are not kept, i.e.,
1. Base was added to Catalyst.
2. Did not allow stand time before spray.
Have nice days!

A. 1) Newer two-part products do not require an induction or stand time. For older systems it was required for the reaction to start before you used the paint. New ones start reacting on mixing.
2) Mixing order: I believe the concern is that the base portion often settles so must be mixed first. So mix the base before anything else then combine in any order.

Q. Is induction time as important when brushing and rolling as it is when spraying a 2-part coating?
