Inactive chrome electroplating bath
2006
We have a problem in our chrome bath. the range of sulphate was 8-9; with addition of barium sulphate we reduce this range to 6. but at now the chromium batch is inactive. also the chromium ions (3 and 6) is normal and we clean all of the anodes.

You reduced it to 6 what, Ebrahim? Please advise the chromium concentration. The sulphate concentration should be 1/100 of that for a conventional Sergeant chrome plating bath. Then you should try to plate a hull cell panel and tell us what you get. Thanks.

Hello Ebrahim;
I think you may have an error on your sulphate reading in the first place; you may have removed all traces of sulphate inadvertently! Work on your analytical procedure and get it right.
In the meanwhile try putting back a couple of drops of sulphate and see if the bath starts up; run a dummy for an hour or so after putting back the sulphate and you will be ready for Plating.
All the best;
