Tell me about bright nickel

Dear
please tell me trouble which may happen for bright nickel.

Hello Ali. Yes, many books have been written about nickel plating, and nearly all standard plating books have at least a chapter on nickel plating. You could get a copy of the Metal Finishing Guidebook and review the chapter on nickel plating, or for a deeper understanding of nickel plating, you could try ASM Handbook Vol. 5, which explains brighteners and carriers and so on. Feel free to ask detailed questions if these books don't answer them for you. Good luck.

Dear Ali,
I think Ted was right in suggesting you some books, but since your question was repeated, I think you better go thru this same folder and study carefully all questions/answers reg.Nickel plating. You will be a master provided you go thru all. It will take max. one hour. Then come back; we are all there to help u.

Hi Ali,
There could be several reasons why you are experiencing this problem. Could you supply me with some specifics such as Ni metal concentration, pH, temp, current density, when you add brightener, the last time the bath was carbon treated? Double check to see if the first five parameters are in range with your supplier's tech data sheet. Do you have a hull cell? If not, your company should purchase one. They are invaluable, especially with bright nickel baths. Look forward to hearing from you.

Your problem could be due to wrong current density, bath composition, temperature, anode, pretreatment. This should help you.

Sorry, Ali, we don't mean to question your experience and skill! Just responding to your request for a basic introduction to nickel plating and for a recommendation of a book about nickel plating.

In my opinion, putting completed work back into the electrocleaner is not a good idea because it is not necessary and it introduces extraneous variables. If you can send a picture of the yellow stained work, so that we are all on the same page, our readers may be able to offer additional tips.

Your solution supplier should be able to tell you what is wrong.
I also suspect that your supplier will be of little or no help.
An experienced plated can normally read the part to some degree.
Bright on the edges and dull in the center is normally a sign of insufficient amperage or low brighteners.
Have you sent any solution for analysis or have a hull cell to test it with?

Hi, Ali

In your bath you need WETTER (wetting Agent) try add 50 mls and see you find a good results. .If not add another 20 mls.
For brightness you need brightener.
