Which is better, stainless steel or anodized aluminum?

Which is better, stainless steel or anodized aluminum? My mom and my Dad where arguing over which was better stainless steel or anodized aluminum. I don't really care, but they asked me to research the topic.

If you don't care I don't care :-)

Both are as interesting as each other. Since you cannot decide which to do, the obvious solution is to do both. Then you will learn to make decisions.

Me thinks Ted my be a bit tired of vague questions, especially ones written with a bit of attitude. So I'll provide the "typical Ted response" when these questions arise.

Vladimir,

Asking which is better depends on the application. Stainless steel is the stronger of the 2 materials, however, I don't think I'd want to fly in an airplane skinned with the very heavy SS. Each material has its own advantages/disadvantages. Tell Mama and Papa to provide you with a real world situation, and then tell THEM you don't care.

You must be talking about cooking stuff.
Aluminum transmits heat a lot better than SS. But, it will not last as long.
A good solution is to pay more and get the SS cookware with the fairly thick disk of copper with the bottom of that covered with SS also.
There is no best answer! The best is what the cook likes.

I've always preferred bananas... I find both stainless steel and aluminum to be a bit hard on my teeth.

I really shouldn't answer questions before lunch...

Better for what? Strength, corrosion resistance, aesthetically etc.?

I believe he means stainless steel or aluminum cooking pans. I'm trying to figure out the exact same thing before asking for either on my wedding registry. Lets see if anyone can explain which one is healthier for you to cook meals with!
