PVDF coating process parameters
Q. Hi ,
We are a jobwork anodising and powder coating company based in south India. We intend starting a PVDF coating facility. Please can you tell us what are the processes involved in this kind of painting. Also we need to know if we can use our chromating bath for pretreatment in this application. Can we use our existing conveyorised oven for this line. At what temperature is this paint cured.
Thanks,

A. Dear P. Jothi Ramalingam
The same pretreatment processes you use for powder coating will go very well with PVDF coating too. In fact, chromating will give better corrosion resistance and adhesion to the job. It will depend on the end requirements of the painted job.
PVDF has distinct advantage of outdoor performance, as it has C-F bonds. This means, it will be difficult for UV rays to break this bond energy, thus making PVDF one of the best systems for UV resistance performance. And corrosion resistance (neutral salt spray, as per ASTM B117), can easily expect 3000 hours performance from PVDF!
