Passing 480 hr saltspray with zinc and trivalent
We are currently struggling to pass a 480 hour salt spray test with zinc/trivalent plating. The fasteners that are being tested are purchased components (in large quantities) and already contain the zinc-tri plating. Is there a post process overlay that can be applied over the exsiting finsih to pass 480 hour salt spray? Or is our only option to strip and replate with zinc nickel or a Geomet?

Hello David,
Your don't state as to how far your plated lot of fasteners are getting to in Salt Spray. There a a lot of Products that will work to get you past 480 hours and can be applied post plating, but not if your present pass level is under 100 hours!
For future supplies alloy platings are a good way to go for achieving
480 hours.
