I need to know about chrome thickness checking

2006

When doing hard chroming in ship engine piston grooves, after grinding the grooves, when checking the thickness of chrome plated not shown correctly.
Machining size and pre-grinding size to hard chroming is in correct specification and in correct dimensions, I need to plate chrome about 0.30mm thickness on the surface.
I using MEGA-CHECK chrome thickness checking instument.
After grinding to size of the groove, chrome thickness shown only 0.20mm to 0.23mm only, but actual thickness is 0.30mm.
I am used different instruments and new one also.
But the problem still persists.
What will be the problem and how can I avoid it?
Please answer it.

Dear Mr. Rajan ,
For such heavy thickness you need to have microscope where you can see base as well as layer, which you can check on screen.
