UV resistant coating for stainless steel housing
2005
I am trying to find a UV+IR resistant coating material to coat a Stainless Steel housing that contains electronic components and a high energy (UV+IR)source of radiation.
The coating should
* be resistant to UV - withstand prolonged UV radiation (0.2-0.4 micron) exposure
* be resistant to IR - withstand prolonged IR radiation (0.8 - 5.0 micron) exposure
* not interfere with the operation of the electrical components
* prevents corrosion and decomposition products on the stainless steel internal housing
Thank you,

Without knowing off the top of my head what the numbers for IR / UV exposure mean, you might consider that automotive paints are designed for pretty good UV and IR (I assume) resistance. One major auto refinishing paint manufacturer even lists a dielectric strength of 2000 volts/mil for their automotive urethane. Something to consider.
