Silver coating/plating on copper

Q. Dear Sir /Madam ,

Could I get information or manufacturing machinery or manufacturing procedure for silver coating or plating on copper?

A. Hello Anil. I hate to be unhelpful or to answer a question with another question, but plating silver onto large sheets would require completely different equipment and methods than plating onto pinheads. And applying a thin immersion coat would require completely different equipment and methods than applying heavy engineering coatings. Finally, you may be able to use a cyanide-free formulation for electronic use, whereas you probably can't get the right color for decorative silver plating except from a cyanide bath.

If you can describe what kind of parts you want to silver plate and why, I'm confident that we can help you. Thanks!

A. Hi Anil,

You can try for CrN hard coating on copper. CrN (chromium nitride) is a silver color coating, if your application is for some decorative material or tool. In Pune there are companies which provide coating service.

I also agree with Ted! First please be specific what this copper material is, and size also?
