If someone advertises aluminum chromating per MIL-C-5541, how can I check their claim?

First of two simultaneous responses --
They should be able to furnish monthly records of salt spray and wet-tape adhesion testing from an independent laboratory.
You should get a copy of the spec for yourself to better help you understand the requirements.

Second of two simultaneous responses --
1. Ask them to show you proof that they are using a product that is listed on the Qualified Products List.
2. Send test panels out for salt spray testing.
