Clear coat on steel

Greetings.

I am aware of powder coating, but this process is not economical since I do one piece at a time. What are the best products and the best process to a finish clear coat on steel? The steel is ground down to a shiny brushed look.

Have you ever looked into spray lacquering the parts as opposed to clear powder coating them?
