What color should zinc dichromate parts be?

IF I SEND A SPEC. TO AN PLATER. IT SAYS ZINC DICHROMATE .00015-.0002 WHAT COLOR WILL THE PARTS COME BACK?

You have not specified, Paul, so they will come back whatever color the plater chooses based on convenience, economy, or his wish to give you additional corrosion protection. Maybe clear or blue, but just as likely yellow, less likely olive drab or black.

Some people think chromate means clear and dichromate means yellow, but I think that's an error with no support for it since chromate (CrO4) solutions are yellow and alkaline and dichromate (Cr2O7) solutions are orange and acidic. Please post your actual situation and we can probably help more.
