Seeking help with refinishing over poor powder coating
We are a custom metal fabrication shop looking for help in refinishing four 12'tall by 7'wide decorative aluminum panels that were very poorly powder coated. The panels weigh only 100 lbs +- each. The poor powder coat has been faired down and the surface is ready for re-coating, we cannot re-powder coat because we used a high temp fairing compound that can only be baked once. We would like to re-coat with a durable almond color automotive paint or lacquer. The concern we have with the automotive paint is the surface stays wet long enough for contaminants to settle onto the surface and ruin the finish. We do not have a spray booth that would prevent this. Lacquer might work better?

I suggest you send these parts out to a reputable paint company. Even an auto body shop should have a filtered air booth to prevent dirt from sticking to the part.
