Barrier coating for graphite kiln furniture

Q. I have graphite vacuum furnace kiln furniture on which I need to deposit a barrier layer to prevent Fe-C eutectic interactions during my process, which runs up to 2330 F (1277 C). "Seasoned" or repeatedly used kiln furniture develops a chrome finish that serves this purpose, but every now and then, I have problems before the plates get seasoned and my parts melt & stick or break the plates. I've used titanium carbide (TiC) with good results, but can't find a vendor to plate full sized kiln furniture, which is 26" X 36" X 0.25". Would it be possible to electroplate the graphite sheets with chrome, rather than wait with my fingers crossed for them to "season"?

A. To avoid this problem, you put a layer of spherical alumina oxide Powder between the kiln furniture and your ceramic product. Perfect round ball shape is slippery and can protect the kiln furniture from damage by shrinkage of ceramic products calcined.
