Prepping aluminum for powder coating with wipe-down only
I AM SETTING UP A SMALL POWDER COATING OPERATION FOR IN HOUSE FINSHING OF OUR OWN PRODUCTS.
WE NEED A METHOD FOR PREPING THE SUBSTRATE WITHOUT USING FLOOR SPACE FOR DIP TANKS. IS THERE A CHEMICAL WIPE-DOWN METHOD THAT WILL ALLOW GOOD ADHESION. WE ARE A SMALL FURNITURE DESIGN COMPANY.

Tide laundry detergent in a bucket of water, you decide the mixture amount, and a lot of rags, don't forget to rinse with water and test adhesion after paint. Make your guys wear gloves.

Laundry detergent will remove organic soil. You also need to remove loosely adherent inorganic soil (oxide). Do that with a phosphoric acid detergent product available from any of the advertisers on finishing.com. The final rinse should be D.I.water. Any contamination (like from Florida high calcium, high chloride water) left on the surface will erupt thru the curing powder during the high curing temperature passage.
