Electrolysis of water

Hi I am a ninth grade student, who is doing a project on electrolysis for the (Intel Science and Engineering Fair) ISEF Fair. And I was wondering what the standard percentage would be for a dissolved electrolyte in water if you are planning on conducting H2O electrolysis?

The concentration of conductive salts is probably not critical in electrolizing water into hydrogen and oxygen. What is critical is that you use salts that offer no possibility of electrolizing into gases themselves. Practically, this means you use sulphate salts, not chloride salts.
