ANALYSIS OF SODIUM SULPHATE IN PICKLING BATH SOLUTION
HI
I AM P.L.PAHWA FROM HISAR AND I AM WORKING WITH M/S JINDAL STAINLESS STEEL LIMITED. I AM WORKING IN QUALITY CONTROL LABORATORY.HERE IS A PICKLING LINE FOR REMOVE THE SCALE AND DURT FROM THE SURFACE OF STAINLESS STEEL STRIP.WE ARE USING ONE TANK OF HNO3+HF(12%+1%) AND SECOND TANK OF H2SO4(10%)AND THIRD ONE OF SODIUM SULPHATE AS NEUTRLIES THE ACID STAINS.WE ARE RECEVING SAMPLE FROM PICKLING LINE FOR ANALYSIS OF SODIUL SULPHATE IN GMS/LITE IN THE GIVEN SAMPLE.PLEASE GUIDE ME HOW I CAN TEST THE SAME BY SOME SIMPLE TITRATION METHOD.

You can titrate a known volume of your sodium sulphate solution using a standard barium chloride solution (toxic) using chromate as indicator. You will have to continuously stir the solution and when the white barium chloride turns to a brick red barium chromate precipitate the end point is reached.

A. First you take a sample and dissolve in acetone ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] Warning! highly Flammable! . Then add diathizone indicator; add ammonia ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] buffer solution (prepared from dichloro acetic acid ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] ); and now titrate with lead nitrate solution to get rose blue colour endpoint.
