Decorative finishes for stainless steel
2005
Hello
I want to know if there are chemical, mechanically or other type of surface treatments that will give stainless steel a different look or color while retaining its metallic appearance. For example: anodizing gives aluminum various shades of color and darkness and the grain is still visible. Are there similar options for stainless steel?
Thank you,

Stainless steel can be anodized for color (the coloration is natural rather than via dyes as in aluminum anodizing; it can be PVD coated with titanium compounds for a gold color; and it can be plated with other metals; it can be black oxided). Bead blasting is a popular method for giving a nice matte metallic look.
