I live close to Mobile Bay, AL and my home flooded during Hurricane Katrina. We know the water reached a maximum of 5' inside our home. The salt flood water stayed uninvited for at least 24 hours. The home was built in 1959 and we have old gutta-percha wiring. What can we expect to happen to the exposed copper wiring over time.
Thanks for any information on this matter.
Sincerely,

INSURANCE - let your insurance agent settle this one! We're mostly chemists and metallurgists that hang here and sounds like you need an electrician! No matter what information you get from this site, I'd only feel safe with all the electrical re-done. I'd get the insurance agent and their claims specialist to committ!
P.S. I'm sorry for your loss - what happened to the gulf coast and in New Orleans is tragic indeed. Best luck getting your home back in shape!
