Brass hinges

I have old brass hinges that are covered in multiple layers of paint. I have figured out that I can soak them in paint thinner to get the paint off. How do I stop the future tarnish? Clear coat them? Lacquer them?

The company that I work for happens to make indutrial door hinges, we do some residential but mainly indutrial, but a hinge is a hinge! Anyway.....maybe I could be of some help to you, we plate US4 finish (dull brass) we use just a regular lacquer on them that is cut with water to 40% & at the request of the customer we will clear caot with a spray lacquer or powder coat them with a clear coat. We also do US3 finish (bright brass) we use the same process for this type of finish as well, on the brights you just have to watch the lacquer does not go iridescent on you. We plate steel, stainless, copper & brass, we use the same process for all metal. Hope that helps ya out a bit!
