Is it possible to gold plate chrome?

I have a chrome coffee table frame that I would like to have electroplated to achieve a gold color. Is this possible, and if so, what is the best method to use?

This item can certainly be gold plated, although gold is quite expensive. It also could be brass plated. But the thing is, plating is not doable at home; you would need to send it to a plating shop.
