Aluminum die cast finishing of Grade AC603

We are manufacturing aluminum die cast in the grade Comalco AC603 with 9% silicon. After the die casting we shot blast the product with MS shots for an aesthetic look. However, the product turns black on shot blasting and finger prints are observed on the surface where it is shot blasted. Whereas we have received samples where the product is silvery in appearance with the same material and no finger marks or blackening is noticed on it.
Please help as to what kind of treatment can be done to achieve the same finish.

It sounds as if you may have a contamination problem. It could be just about anything from oils to mixed metals being re-cycled through the system. To clean up this situation requires not only cleaning all the surfaces and lines but checking any other inlet/outlet or the environment.

AC603 has silicon content in the range 6.5-7.5 %. If your alloy has 9% silicon content, it is not AC603.
