Ni adhesion to Cr/Ni

2005

Hi everyone,
I have standard glass slides coated with 0.8 micron Ni/Cr (50/50) by plasma sputtering. Now I want to deposit Nickel on top using a Watts bath with saccharin additive. I am getting a thin film of nickel foil that separates easily from the substrate. I assume my surface preparation is incorrect, I am just dipping the slide in 10% sulfuric acid for 10 seconds before the plating procedure. Can anyone suggest a suitable pretreatment?
Thanks a lot,

Read letter 36239. Substrate very similar to yours. Also learn about Woods nickel strike.
