The similarity of MIL-STD-1500 to QQ-416
I am working in a company that is doing some cadmium plating for a specialized job and I realized that I have been doing it to the AMSQQP416 specifications and now that I have been reading up on the process saw that it has been calling out for the MIL-STD-1500. I was wondering what if any are the major differences between the two. If you can please help me out with this I would greatly appreciate all you can do.

I was thinking about your question over my breakfast cerial this morning and then it came to me as clear as "snap, crackle, pop" .... embrittlement! MIL-STD-1500 was the forerunner to QQ-P-416 long before no brightener chemistry and extended bakes were incorporated into QQ-P-416. You're really asking ( and disclosing this fact ) to the wrong people - you should immediately divuldge this fact to your customer. While he may never find out, the potential risk of a plane falling from the sky due to your oversight isn't worth the embarrassment that disclosure will.
