Silver nitrate: Melts at 212 centigrade, decomposes at 444 centigrade ( CRC Handbook of Chemistry & Physics [adv: on Amazon & AbeBooks & eBay affil links] 68th Editiion).

To obtain silver chloride from silver nitrate: Dissolve silver nitrate in distilled water, add sodium chloride, silver chloride precipitates out, filter off silver chloride, wash well with hot water and there you have it.
