ANALYSIS FOR SODIUM THIOCYANATE NEEDED
IS THERE AN EASIER WAY TO DO ANALYSIS FOR sodium thiocyanate [affil links] THAN WHAT OUR LAB DOES. OUR ANALYSIS: 10ML SAMPLE OF BATH; 100ML DI WATER; 15ML 20% H2SO4; 1-2ML SATURATED FERROUS AMMONIUM sulphate; TITRATE WITH 0.1N AGNO3 UNTIL RED COLOR HAS TURNED TO A WHITE ENDPOINT. THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS THERE IS NO VISIBLE ENDPOINT?

The first guess is inadequate agitation. Are you using a spin bar? James Watts- Navarre, Florida 2005 I believe what you need as indicator is ferric ammonium sulphate, not ferrous ammonium sulphate. Double check your procedure. Dave Wichern Consultant - The Bronx, New York 2005 I don't know of another method, but we use the absence of red as the endpoint. Hi, Bora. That was asked & answered. If you don't understand or agree with what has been offered please try to cast your question in those terms rather than re-asking an answered question. Thanks! :-)
