Clear coatings on bronze

Please let me know more about the coatings and supplier. We are a conservation company always looking for more tools in the coatings world. The standard coatings in this industry are Incralac this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] and such are equivalent to stone knives and bone hammers in the 21st century.

Hi David. I don't think I agree. Surface coatings of less than a thousandth of an inch or so, no matter what they are made of, have a limited life, although metallic and carbide coatings probably have a longer life than anything clear. Unfortunately, encouraging proprietary suppliers, who naturally can't reveal the composition of their products, to respond that theirs is indeed better only seems to result in silly "mine is bigger than yours" claims--but we'll see how it develops.
