Masking

We plate nickel in an nickel sulfide Refinery. We plate a 24 hour deposit on a 3/16" stainless steel mandrel. Currently, we use a polyethylene masking stick around the edges. Unfortunately, this is a very costly method. Is there any other type of masking that would help to ensure nothing plate on the edges and that does not have to be changed every cycle? Please keep in mind that in our process, the mandrels are man handled.

Polyethylene costly? I think it's one of the cheapest plastics and plastics are among the cheapest industrial materials today. Hard to think of something cheaper. G. Marrufo-Mexico
