Painting fiberglass bathtub
2005
I spent an hour yesterday reading the back of paint cans and primers. I have never painted fiberglass tubs before but need to do something with the 3 surrounds I inherited with the purchase of my new/old home.
What about prepping, then using the
Kilz
[affil links] primer, then an outdoor paint resistant to water or a stain like for decking or porch, then poly coating it to seal. I'm thinking it may need about 6 coats to seal then maybe 1 a year to follow.

I purchased a new fiberglass bathtub and the plumber installed it. The tile technician installed the wrong color wall tile, which does not match the bathtub. The color of the bathtub is gray and I want to repaint it beige. What type of preparation do I need and what type of paint should I use? Thank you.

Ed. note: Suz, Hubert: a few people claim success at this in letter 19519, but spraying rather than brushing was suggested, and it didn't sound like the poly coating step was involved. Good luck!
