Permanently Marking a Hardcoated Part

I have a customer who is asking for a cost effective way to permanently mark a part that we hardcoat (Type III, Black) for them. They were originally going to have us mechanically stamp the part prior to hardcoating but they are looking for a cheaper method. Stenciling the part with paint is not an option because they need the marking to be totally permanent. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Laser engraving either before or after hardcoat makes an excellent permanent mark. Any digital image can be laser engraved or hard copies can be scanned to digital format. An image engraved prior to hardcoat is more subtle but has full coating protection. After hardcoat, the image is almost white against the dark background but lacks full protection.

Luke Eng. can engrave and/or hardcoat these pieces. Send them to my attention for expedited handling.
