Repair of Ebonite lined stub
Sir,
A stub welded to a tank is broken at the weld during transit.
The stub and the tank were lined with Ebonite.
Kindly suggest a procedure to carry out the repair.
Thanking you

Hi M.P.
Ebonite .. isn't that a phenol formaldehyde concoction?... a thermoset, to boot.
The only 'repair' of sorts would be to use an epoxy .... but can't you replace it with a tank adaptor? ... PVC, PP,
CPVC?
In my 40 odd years in plastics I'd never come across an ebonite material for corrosion resistance and NEVER heard of a tank lined with it. ...but then ignorance is bliss.

I suggest you to use the ebonite mastic "Layer Ebonite", it is applied with a spatula and it dries up in an hour.
Serviceable in order to repair superficial ebonite routes.
Optimal in order to cover superficial tcontact with acids.
