Metal Roof Paint with Linseed Oil

I have been told that there are products that contain boiled linseed oil this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] that will keep it from rusting, as well as improving the appearance of my roof. Can anyone recommend a Paint like this? Does it Work? Any particular brand? Where can I get it? How does it get applied? How long will it last? Gaurantees? Thanks for any help that you can provide, Sheryl

Linseed oil roof paints may be purchased from Calbar metal roof paint in Levittown Pennsylvania. They are sold under the trade name Tin-O-Lin and Showerproof Original. If I were you, I would consider very carefully before settling on a linseed oil roof paint. While they had been the standard for over 100 years, they are a little difficult to work with due to the length of time that they take to dry. Tin-O-Lin for instance can take between 3 days and 2 weeks to dry, depending on temperature, humidity and paint thickness. A more user friendly alternative is the product Showerproof "WB", made by the same company. This is an elastomeric acrylic waterbased roof paint that I'm told will last for about 10 years when applied at their specs. I have applied the Showerproof wb by airless spray and it goes on really well, but it can also be brushed or rolled. You will have to contact the company to discuss guarantee. You should be able to find them on line under Calbar metal roof paint.

Good Luck.
