Activation after Nickel

We do perform electroless Nickel (sulfamate) over chips and then Tin/Lead(60/40), what would be the recommended activation process in between?

I have no knowledge of an electroless nickel chemistry using nickel sulfamate. This salt is commonly used for electrolytic deposition. In any case, activation is normally done in a Woods strike (high chloride high free acid nickel bath).

I wonder if an alkaline cleaner wouldnt do the same also.

An alkaline cleaner will do the same activation as a nickel strike solution only if it is a cyanide alkaline solution.
