Plating on plastic

2005

Hi

I'm currently doing electrogalvanizing here in the Philippines and just recently I have a client who wants his Toyota car EMBLEM electroplated but the problem is that it's base is plastic. If you can help me I want to know the process and the chemical solutions to it.

Thanks

Sammy,

Believe me you don't want to plate that gentleman's emblem.

(unless he wants several thousand per day and happens to work as a buyer for a large autoparts manufacturer). A conventional POP (plating on plastic) line consists of at least 22-26 tanks and will cost you anywhere from $200,000 to $1,000,000 US dollars all equipped, filled with chemicals and ready to operate. Without it you cannot do a decent POP job.
