Depending on how rough a finish it has right now will determine how rough a grit sandpaper you will need to use. Start off with 400 or there about if it has a fairly rough finish, then move on to 600 then 1200 or 00 steel wool ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] (#00 fine) then #0000 steel wool ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] #0000 very fine.
Lots of elbow grease and a little WD-40 ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] to keep the particles from sticking to the sandpaper. If you feel it is necessary you can use Brasso ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] to do the final polish on the frame.
