Can agricultural lime sulfur (23% sulfide sulfur) be used to oxidize sterling silver and/or copper ?

A. Why not try 5% solution(50 gm/1 lit water).

Good luck!

"Lime sulfur" is a preparation of calcium polysulfide. "Liver of sulfur" this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , usually used for the application you describe, is a preparation of potassium polysulfide. What I have heard from patination specialists is that the results will be similar, but not identical - the presence of the calcium alters the shade of the oxidized surface slightly.
