Corrosion of metals

I am a student form Kosovo and I want to know more about how corrosion is caused and the process that occurs between the metals and environmnet. Corrosion, in general. I am doing a project about preventing corrosion and corrosion in general, so I would like to know more about it .

Your soonest reply will be highly appreciated.

The short answer is that the metallic form of most metals is less stable than the form that the metal is in as a corrosion product, Gresa. So the metal has a propensity to react with anything that it can react with--oxygen in the air or water, sulfides in the air, salts, etc., and corrode. But there is little propensity for the opposite reaction--spontaneous conversion back to metal form--to occur.

But you need to get a book about rust and corrosion from your school library or town library.
