How to produce stainless silver?
My brother owns a jewelry store, and sales silver objects of different shape and sizes. We are looking for a suitable additive which can be added in molten silver to prevent it from blackening and tarnishing on final finished products, let's say to produce stainless silver objects without need of polishing.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Best regards

This isn't something I've come across before, but if you are willing to do a few test batches I can throw an idea at you. Use what is used in stainless steel, chromium. It will harden the silver quite a bit, and it may do some other odd things to it's characteristics. I can't really think of many things that would keep steel from oxidizing (aside from a good nickel plating job).

If one adds beryllium to copper it makes the copper somewhat'stainless'. Maybe it would do same to silver - although there are safety issues with working with Be.
