Silica removal other than by DM

DEAR FRIENDS,

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHETHER THERE IS ANY METHOD OTHER THAN DEMINERALISATION & RO, TO REDUCE SILICA IN WATER?

I HAVE HEARD OF A METHOD USING SOME Mg COMPOUNDS OR BY USING SODIUM ALUMINATES.CAN ANYONE PROVIDE ME THE DETAILS OF THE SAME?

Yes. I tell again to you like others in this web site, the ECP (electrolitic catalytic precipitation )is the general valuable method to oxidise the metals in solution. Also the silica it is completely removed by this method.

Removing Silica can be as simple as softening or as complex as DI or RO or Electrocoagulation or ECP. Your exact application, volume, quality requirements, and end use of the water, along with energy costs in your area will all have an influence on your best option. Since you don't want to do DI or RO I assume you have a reason having to do with capital costs... let us in on the constraints and maybe we can be more helpful.

For ECP treatment you can contact us.

The ECP (Electro-Catalitic Precipitation)will remove silica only by oxidation in the solution and recovered by the filters.

You do not need chemicals, no need sacrificial electrodes, no depends on pH or concentration.

Tell us your maximum values analysis of the waste , flowrate and dischargw EPA requirements, and will offer you a solution.

Lime softening with addition of dolomitic hydrated lime [Ca(OH)2*Mg(OH)2] or magnesium oxide [MgO]or magnesium hydroxide [Mg(OH)2] is used to reduce the dissolved silica levels of raw water. This is commonly used as the first step of boiler feedwater preparation. The silica appears to be adsorbed or chemisorbed on the Mg(OH)2 surface at pH >= 10.3.

Damian Dinu, Constanta Romania has mentioned Electrolytic Catalytic Precipitation as solution to ammonia Removal 100% from waste water. Also with removal of silica.
We have a somewhat defective system that sometimes produces high ammonia content in waste water from ammonia fertilizer plant. The environmental concerns are obvious so we are looking for the most appropriate method. ECP as an oxidation method seems catchy. We have surplus electricity to use.
I need more details of this system.
Thanks
