Nowadays, almost only trucks use steel bumpers which are stamped in presses and painted or chrome plated. Common steps for chrome after polishing are (precleaning and in-between rinses omitted): 1-electroclean 2-pickle 3-alkaline copper plate 4-acid copper plate (bright) 5-duplex nickel plate (matt and bright) 6-microporous or microcracked chrome plate.

Hi,
I noticed you were studying the process of manufacture of steel bumpers. I am wondering what stage you are at, as we are interested to learn a bit more about the process itself. We have a real-life project too, if that is of interest?!
Best regards,
