Hard chroming of Yamaha four stroke outboard crankshaft journals

I seek advice on hard chroming the main bearing journals of a Yamaha 100hp four stroke outboard engine. I have been given advice from the dealer that most shops will only hard chrome two stroke cranks as there have been numerous failures with four stroke engines. Is this really the case or are we looking at poor preparation temperatures etc? The dealer added if you want it done the shop would require a disclaimer.......if thats the case what's the point as it then becomes all care and no responsibility.

Can anyone please help?
