Plating to protect 100 lb steel centerboard in salt water?
Are there plating shops in southern California that can reply to me on this? Is there a link anywhere to lists of metal platers by location? Besides various needs on our campus my own personal immediate need is that I just bought a little sailboat and found it has a 100 lb steel centerboard that was only painted and nothing else! Even though the boat has been out very few times in 10 years it still is badly rusted in spots. I would like to have it plated to prevent as much rust as possible (it will be used in the Ocean mostly) What is the best plating available for this? Galvanize? Cad? Something else? Should I epoxy coat in addition to the plating? (I saw on another board someone had done that)
Thanks, Doug in Orange County California
