What is the nickel compound and where did it come from? I suspect it is heavily complexed and the complex is so strong that it inhibits the precipitation of nickel by conventional methods. This is sometimes found with electroless nickel solutions. Without adequate information no one can accurately help you and any forthcoming suggestions may be totally erroneous and hence waste your time and money.
