A question about something called like "wet-polishing"

2004

Hello everyone

My name is Moshe Farsi. I am working for a stainless steel sheets/coils trading company. We had always been dealing with 304, 316 and 430 material with 2B/BA/2D/N1 finishing. Now we decided to start to deal with polished material. We have some customers that say that there is a finishing which in our country is called something like "wet-polishing". The problem is that even though I personally know how that finish looks like, I don't really know how to describe it to our suppliers. The surface becomes like satine, you don't feel any notches when you pass your hand on it. There is also the regular (I think) No. 4 finish, of which the surface is somewhat rougher.

Now my questions are as follows:
- Is there any surface finishing with the name "wet-polishing" which fits my description?
- What's the grit number for this finishing?
- Is there a name for it like No. 4 etc.?
- What's the requirement for the PVC that has to be used to coat the plates with this kind of finishing in order to protect it from possible harm?

Thank you and have a nice day.

Moshe
