Passivation Specifications

What's the difference between QQ-P-35C (canceled) [link is to free spec at Defense Logistics Agency, dla.mil] and ASTM A967-01? Which would be preferred for 13-8MO stainless steel?

Chuck,

ASTM A967 is essentially QQ-P-35 with the addition of citric acid based passivation. (QQ-P-35 allowed only nitric acid passivation.) QQ-P-35 was canceled by the DoD in favor of this.

ASTM A967 would be "preferred" as it is more recent, though it is between you and your customer if you choose to use a nitric process or a citric process. Let us know if we can help you with this.
