Anodizing Al cast

Is it possible to anodize Al cast if there are steel parts inserted in it (incovered). If not, why?

Atanas Irinchev

First of two simultaneous responses --

If the steel is exposed to the anodizing solution it will be destroyed.

Second of two simultaneous responses --

The anodizing process uses a sulfuric acid solution that will dissolve uncovered steel parts. It can be done if the steel parts are thoroughly masked using RTV silicone or other simialar masking agent.
